HISTORY of Ling Shu Clinic

Michelle trained as an Advanced Acupuncturist and Advanced Almightiness Health Care Therapist of National Occupational Massagist in Guang Zhou of China, and practiced in Acupuncture Department of Li Wan District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Guang Zhou of China. In 2009 Michelle studied and graduated from the National Diploma of Acupuncture Level 7 at the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine. Michelle learned many of her acupuncture and medicinal skills from her father and other Masters of Chinese Medicine in China before moving to NZ in 1995. Learning from various masters has extended her qualifications beyond standard acupuncturist training.

The Ling Shu Clinic was originally started by John Cui, who had practiced for 20 years before selling to Michelle in 1999. Before leaving, John worked with Michelle for a year and although the clinic is now updated, the integrity of the services offered has been retained.

Who can be treated?

There is no age limit for treatments, from babies and children to teenagers, adults or elderly. All can be practiced without side effects by the use of acupressure, massage (tuina) or chi stimulation by acupuncture.

What kind of treatment?

Michelle proudly practises traditional chinese techniques and provides a service second to none. She is a dedicated professional that delivers a holistic recovery to normal health by utilising her 20 years of experience with the use of a wide range of natural products and specialised therapeutic techniques.

How many treatments does it take?

There is no normal number of treatments, as it varies from patient to patient dependent upon the type of condition being treated but most short term (Acute) ailments would require two to three visits and long term (Chronic) conditions ten or more sessions.

What can be treated?

Almost any condition can be subject to treatment; from injuries, burns, internal disorders, environmental allergy problems and emotional disorders to pregnancy whether delivery, post delivery or infertility.

How does it work?

Michelle works with the whole body using a combination of techniques from acupressure, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping & massage to herbal remedies which are determined by the type of condition or symptom present. Most of these assist the body's natural abilities to heal whilst reducing pain through increased endorphine production, balancing regulation of blood flow and hormones, controlling inflammation & muscle spasms whilst giving an overall feeling of well being.

Can I be treated if I'm pregnant?

Pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal recovery are viewed in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a window of opportunity to enhance the woman's wellbeing .  Value is placed on promoting preventative care to strengthen the mother and baby.  Acupuncture is effective at reducing nausea and vomiting, promoting baby development and preparing for labour.

Please advise Michelle if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, hepatitis, AIDS or any other similar illnesses or infectious conditions.
